The Results of July

I made it! Hit my goals, wrote a ton of words, spent a week mentally relaxing, and now I’m ready to get back to normal life.

First goal: write 10,000 words for the Corydon book and hopefully finish it up so I can move on with my life and shift to other projects. Made the word count, and then some, but didn’t quite get it finished. I’m close enough that it shouldn’t take much more of a push, so there’s that.

I hit all my goals for World Anvil Summer Camp, which I’m very excited about. So that’s 42 prompts at 300+ words each, all set in the Superheroes Assorted world (I know, the name, but what else am I supposed to call it?), thus expanding it for when I start to write the series. I’m quite excited about diving into that, because for the first time I have a solid plan for character arcs and plots that extend through the whole series. Enough detail that I can properly set things up, but not so much that I feel trapped into doing something that felt like a good idea two years ago.

I made my goals, which means I earned my reward and am now looking at the Lego Lion Knights Castle. Expensive. Worth it. The structural details on this thing are fantastic. If the little lego people suddenly came to life, this would be the perfect place for them to live.

After a week of resting my brain, I’m back to writing. At a much slower pace, and on a few different projects, so it’s a bit more fun and less of a drive to complete. Which is what I need right now. Now that’s all done, I’m not going to push as hard where writing is concerned. Everyday life has been stepping up its demands, and after taking a week to rest my brain I’m more convinced that I need to take it easy. Which doesn’t necessarily mean no writing, but more that I get to pick to do the fun stuff, or the easy stuff, or put in something closer to the minimum of effort. For anyone else also stepping into a different writing mode, I wish you well.

Absolute overload! Now that I’ve taken a minute to rest my brain, it’s been nice to get back to it and do some of the easier things.
