The Special Effects Department of Writing

It’s the first week of Camp NaNoWriMo, and I’m working hard at my novel. Here’s another post I wrote on a previous blog, about descriptions and the role they play in writing.

Description, defined as “astatement, pictureinwords, oraccountthat describes; descriptiverepresentation.” Thank you, dictionary.com. Description is a major part of writing, right up there with exposition, dialogue and action. It’s what you picture in your head when you read. In some cases, description is better when it’s minimized, limited in order for the reader to do most of the world creating. In other cases, a rich and vibrant description makes the piece more vivid and lifelike.

I am not always the best at description.
